How fast do the tractors go?
The tractors are very slow. They are geared down for pulling heavy loads. Maybe 5-7 mph max.

How much do the tractors weight?
Empty weight (without driver and added weight) about 650lbs. The tractors compete at two weight classes 800lb and 1050lb.

What horsepower is the engine?
Briggs and Stratton donates one 16hp twin-V to each school.

What type of fuel do the tractors use?
Standard 87 octane fuel.

What have you done to the engine?
The engine can not be modified in anyway except for the exhaust.

How much does the tractor pull?
A specific weight is unknown. The tractors pull a progressive weight sled in which the weight increases as the tractor moves down the track.

What surface do the tractors pull on?
At the National Competition in the spring, the surface is a packed clay.

Who designs and builds the tractors?
The tractors are all student designed and student built.

What are the rules?
Rules are set by ASAE competition rules committee.

Who drives the tractors during competition?
The team leaders.

What type of tires are on the tractors?
Firestone donates a set of rear tires to each school each year.

Is this project a class at the UW?
No, this is an extra curricular activity, but one could take it as their senior design project.
